I run a tiny bookmarking service called EmailThis.

Instead of having to create an account on another website and install additional apps, EmailThis works by sending the web page (after stripping ads and clutter) to your email.

One of the key advantages of EmailThis is that you don't rely on any external service. So if a service like Readability goes down, you don't end up losing all your saved bookmarks.

Also, if you are using Gmail or Outlook, you can set filters that automatically move incoming bookmark emails (that EmailThis sends) into specific folders based on keywords/tags.

You can also leverage the fulltext search that your email client provides.

EmailThis is available as a browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Opera) and a bookmarklet. If you don't want to install it, you can simply email the URL to save@emailthis.me and my app will reply with the contents of that URL.

Let me know if you find it useful.

  • Posted to Remember Outline, the news reader? It now has a Chrome extension., in reply to Matthew Blode , May 17, 2017

Not meaning to hijack this thread (Outline is great).

But if you find a site unreadable, you can also try my side-project Email This. EmailThis removes ads and clutter from web pages and sends you a nice email with just the main text/images. I built it as a simpler alternative to bookmarking/read-later tools.

It looks like Opera has undergone another reboot.

I've been using Opera quite a bit recently because I have been developing a cross-browser extension. I like the integrated VPN and ad-blocker. Other than that it seems like a thin wrapper around Chrome.

They've changed the UI a bit in this new version. Personally, I am not too stoked about this release (integrated social messenger seems like a really bad decision to me).

I was wondering what DN thinks about this. I am also curious to know what browsers you guys use (Vivaldi, Epic etc).

Really smooth animations, but it reminds me a bit of the flash websites from a few years ago :)

Love the subtle transitions (navigations menus etc). Is there a library that helps you do that?

Seconded. Also, now Heroku does (free) automatic renewal of SSL certificates.

If you are using dokku, you can use dokku-letsencrypt.

This is the first time I've heard of the JAMstack that this website talks about. Seems like an interesting trend.

I am building a small bookmaking/read-later tool called Email This. It lets you save main text and images (no ads or clutter) from an article to your email inbox. You can create automatic labels/filters in your email client to organize the incoming bookmarks.

I've had users saying that they use Email This for things that they want to read in the short term (maybe in a couple of days) and Pocket for saving things that they might need sometime in the future.
