How was a data driven company like Google able to overcome years of legacy design to implement a completely new design language like Material Design?

Was it a complete revamp and now you will begin the testing and iteration? Or was there quantitative testing before launching 100%?

Really impressed with how seamless and efficient Material Design has been rolled out in such a large organization.

A lot of good principles and foundations for design within a startup.

Quip might not be as light weight as you are looking for but I sure like it as an alternative to Evernote.

Having a hard time understanding why this needed in a second app.

Nice execution, but I don't find myself ever opening up Medium without a specific article in mind, linked to from twitter or here, as the scope of what I could read is too large. Also that might just be me, ha.

Spent an hour getting it all tuned up how I like it and then realized I was trying to make it look and work just like my sublime and gave up.

I'll second that vimeo link. It was super helpful and got things running for me.
