We miss it dearly. So much so, in fact, that we've been playing around with a spin-off of Little Big Details. We call it, "Really Good UX." It's basically a library of screenshots intended to help inspire UX designers by means of example. Here's what we've got so far: http://reallygoodux.io
Very insightful, I agree completely. "Discovery" isn't always effective, it can actually often result in frustration and churn. I suppose I just happen to fall into the exciting/fun/playful group :)
Not wild about Snapchat? Anything in particular you think they do a poor job of?
Thanks for the feedback, Andrew. We are trying to find the right forum to share some examples of what we think is good UX, and it seems like designer news isn't quite the right place for it.
Thank you for the feedback! If you're not too busy... one more Q: do you think you would benefit from a page compiled of short posts, like this? Think along the lines of a Tumblr account, almost. Something you scroll through, maybe you read 3-4 posts instead of a single long post. i.e https://reallygoodux.tumblr.com/ . Again, thanks for the feedback.
Currently working on a platform to showcase some examples of different/good UX that we see. Do you think there is much to gain from short posts with quick visuals, or do you think traditional blogging (longer text) is better all around?
True. As a reader/viewer, would you prefer longer posts with more text, or shorter posts with quick visuals? Not that they are necessarily comparable... just gaining intel.
Very sharp, very well spoken. Agree 100% on the background images of the swiping portion. They don't add much, if anything, and it just seems like a waste of onboarding education.
Looks awesome, nicely done.
