This is actually already a native feature in Mac OS. If you press
Command + Shift + / in any app, type the shortcut you want to use and then hit the down arrow—you can see exactly where the option is on the context menu and its shortcut.
Looks cool, will there be any support for augmented reality? Or is this purely a prototyping tool for VR
Really well made, my only complaint is that the circles in the background shouldn't be fixed. They distract from the cards, since they pop in and out as you scroll down. Everything else feels very well thought out. Bookmarked!
Such a subtle but tasteful change, a lot of users might not even notice. On their landing page it almost complements their iconic angled gradient hero. The app icon has a pretty radical design, it's interesting to see the footnote under it that says it was proposed, and not actually used. The current icon doesn't use one of the gradients declared in their visual design, and feels like it's missing the subtle rebrand.
The change seems to have a backbone of unification, rather than 'boldness'. Changing all the product logos to exist under a design system similar to that of the logo solidifies the brand identity. It can be seen in practice with Google's products. In more of a visual sense, I agree that the logo feels a bit safe and generic. I think this is fine, since the main Atlassian logo should be something more iconic and symbolic, but the product logos could have used a bit more creativity. They are significantly differentiable now, but not necessarily notable enough to tell apart without the logotype. It's interesting to note that the Trello logo hasn't changed at all, and their decision to keep its logo despite owning the product.
Since a visual identity change usually comes as nauseating to its users, it's frustrating to see them reveal this new logo, and back up the identity with an unclear description of their values ('open work'). From the user's perspective, it would be less jarring if we understood Atlassian's new teamwork strategy, open work, and then were revealed this new logo and identity that supports it.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if there will be any changes to the user interfaces in their products to support this new identity and its values, or if the change is just visual.
As a relatively new Designer News member, it barely feels like there's any community here at all, to be honest. I do feel like I'm being sold something on every other post.
Reddit does a great job of nourishing a community by declaring strict rules around self-promotion. It's definitely something I could see being adopted here. Self promotion wouldn't necessarily have to be removed from the site, but rather moved to a different section.
I'm also curious, is there even any effort to improve Designer News in any way? I've seen a lot of posts about improving aspects of the platform to advance the experience as a whole, and they do spark some conversation, but only before dying a few days later.
BTT has a great arsenal of customizability, you get out what you put in. You can override app specific shortcuts, make custom buttons come up in certain apps or with modifier keys, and really you can do anything with the button's uses. BTT allows you to change the mouse position and trigger clicks with delays so that pretty much covers a lot of use cases.
There's also an easter egg in the Dribbble app if you long press the logo.
