Perhaps a modification in rules and a reassessment of a content strategy (i.e. what kind of posts to share and upload or even ask) could solve this problem.
Hi guys, wanted to get feedback and critique on my own portfolio (specifically the content and site design) and it would be most amazing to hear from a community that inspires me well, and that is none other than Designer News :)
p.s. I didn't work on the front-end or back-end, just the ui and content. Limited capabilities desire limited output, hence no responsive site, enter sadness...
Trying my luck and transparency here: http://www.daveong.com/ . This is a work in progress as I do not develop or code at all. I asked a good friend of mine a favor in exchange of designing the interface of his portfolio.
It took me 3 months of planning and designing the interface because I'd like to think designing your own portfolio is innately hard (one would really want to make ends meet) and about 3 weeks of coding (from front-end to back-end) to develop the site.
As for the content of my portfolio, I did an audit of how portfolios tell stories of their work and saw a pattern - it starts with a problem, participation, workflow, results. This pattern helped me compose the write-ups for my work quickly.
Consequently, I had to translate this into a print portfolio in case employers request them.
I had to greatly consider and factor in that this is a favor and my designs should aspire to be a minimum viable product. In fact, the outcome so far reflects on a paradox that while it is a portfolio of a UX designer, the portfolio itself lacks some basic necessities of a good ux lol (i.e. mobile responsive, load time, etc.)
Of course there is so much I still want to do with it - mobile responsive and a better way of storytelling (my work) in relation to the brand that I aspire to be, more subtle interactions. Perhaps I'll get there one day :)
Oh and I learned a lot too about coding, setting up my own servers, domains, and such, a very fulfilling experience in the end, really :)
you. are. a. miracle. thank you :)
Still a work in progress :S - http://www.daveong.com/
I don't code but asked my good friend/developer to help me out so its just the designs I worked on.
Feedback is very much welcome :)
my last name :D
Looking at it from a world-view perspective, after the 2011-2012 Burmese political reforms, Myanmar saw light in driving globalization by opening economic policies to foreign countries. There's a vast need in different industry or sectors to establish in Myanmar, McDonald's for example, or even Starbucks.
People should also start setting up in Myanmar.
see, i wouldn't even know that there's stack overflow for that given that i'm not a developer, lol, thanks Henrique :)

I haven't logged on DN for years but I religiously make this a morning habit.... until today. Thank you Jay and Todd for leading how a community should be - being so raw with your problem and getting a response that effortlessly captures authenticity in lifting people, without any intimidating questions. I haven't seen DN go like this since its early days.
