As a manager the best advice I was given was that bad managers rely on the old "My door is always open!" wisdom. This is a bullshit management strategy because it puts the onus on your people to bring up issues. Your employees that feel anxious, confused, burnt out, or embarrassed by something they don't know shouldn't also endure the turmoil of finding the courage to come to you. Don't do that. Go out and find issues. Shake the trees until nothing falls out.

Interesting. But by applying a design push in the beginning and edge cases thinking later, wouldn't you be creating a situation when edges cases comes up, it can create frustration or double the work since they weren't thought since the beginning?

Can you elaborate a bit more the part of changing career when companies don't want older people? I do agree with you about old people but I'm interested to know how do you fix a career change when you reach a specific age.

Agree with you with the commoditization issue. When the OS you use to get your stuff done already has a cloud storage to offer, you "probably" would only use other service providers if that cloud storage gets full (if it gets)

Those controls are at the same horizontal level because they are the main actions you can do with a story.

The pill control is used because 2 actions are "tied" together. What I mean with this and based on your screenshot, one of the main action s for this story is to "Assign" but there are more options related with Assign (that's why More is next to it). The other example is related with other main action: the complete phase which can be "Ready for Grooming" or "Close issue". Again, they are related, that's why it has a "pill control"

One thing is certain: JIRA is made for the type of user who wants to get stuff done, regardless of its interface. It has a lots of options and customization and users have to search around the screen for the correct option but as long it works, it's fine.

Can you share an example of an unintuitive process?
