Agreed! I’m that person too when it comes to Dexter. Obviously not a child, but for the time being, he is :D Even with certain accomplishments or family moments in life, I’d love to really document it. Love the idea of Life Events on Facebook, but having it solely on Facebook is such a split considering most of what I share is done on Instagram and then pushed to FB and Twitter.
Thanks, Joelle! Really appreciate it :)
Hey everyone! Writing this, I don't mean for it to be a case study or full on redesign of the app. Just meant to showcase a potentially awesome feature to Instagram, helping make it even more personal, to document the moments in our life.
I think most people can learn a lot more than they think they can. They sell themselves short without trying. One bit of advice: it is important to view knowledge as sort of a semantic tree -- make sure you understand the fundamental principles, ie the trunk and big branches, before you get into the leaves/details or there is nothing for them to hang on to.
Sound advice.
Whilst cool, italics are to emphasize certain points within the copy. Not for just any copy.
...see what I did there?
This is an onslaught.
Love this! Fantastic write up. Some thoughts:
"We’re bombarded with so much input and rarely have time to process all of it. Do we stop to think about how all the things we create and the content we consume will affect our children and our children’s children?"
Yes, everything about this is just yes.
" Why should this product exist? I couldn’t come up with any answers other than just having the ability to make it exist. In the end, this brand new product wouldn’t have added any value to the world."
I wonder how this applies to game design. I've always been hesitant saying I enjoy creating and building meaningful products, because that's really relative to the individual. What's meaningful to me, may not be to you.
Many would argue that game design is irrelevant and shouldn't exist because it doesn't solve a "problem" and no one can say why it should exist other than entertainment. To you, is that enough? Are games like Tic Tac Toe for iOS or Threes justified or do you feel they have no place because they don't "provide value"?
Either way, great write up. Awesome points.
I was wondering the same thing, but didn't care to look into answering that question considering the length of my to-do list at the moment :D
