thanks, I didn't know that, won't share them anymore
Thanks for your feedback. Some of the examples are real live websites that got SOTD on Awwwards. The article is devoted to the trends, it's not only about the products that were really implemented, but also what designers experimented on this year, what they considered as actual and cool for now and what they would like to try in future products for web and mobile. That is why I suppose examples from active design communities such as Dribbble and Behance are relevant for such a review. In parallel to fashion industry, not all the trends get really adopted and popular for mass market but they are still considered trends and discussed by professionals.
I collected some tips on making the choice on light or dark UI some time ago here. Not to take your time here, there you'll find ideas how interface color scheme influences readability, accessibility, and clarity of the page. https://tubikstudio.com/light-or-dark-ui-tips-choose-proper-color-scheme/
Basically, the purpose of the interface and the target audience are among the most essential factors, as for me. In your case between the examples you show (both good-looking), I would choose the dark interface. The page is not overloaded with the text and fonts are readable, so it won't be hard for users to read the information. Dark background is often associated with the process of coding; for me, it looks more elegant and stylish.
However, I have to support all the previous comments here that mentioned video: in dark background, it's not as obvious and catchy as in light version. So, if you aren't going to change the design to make the video more catchy on the page and want your users to notice that video content, the light version will definitely work better.
P.S. My greeting to the Flawless team, you guys are cool

When I need photos of people, https://photos.icons8.com/ is my fav due to the diversity of models. The upgrades in the new version of the photo stock make it even more fun and useful.
