Hey Richard! Thanks for your comment.
Pricing We charge for both developers and designers in the Company plan. Guest users can only preview designs and comment on them. We don't charge for guest users. Zeplin and other tools also charge per user (both designer and developer) if you go with the organization plan. The organization plan allows any member to add/organize designs. The personal plan allows only one person to add/organize but you can add unlimited viewers to inspect the design. We've just recently changed the pricing, so if you have any question feel free to email me. We can also arrange a custom deal for you. Avocode Write is completely free on the other hand.
Avocode Write It doesn't break the link at all. We're able to parse files, so we know what is a symbol and what isn't. And then we only replace the text string in the file. So if you pull the latest changes it will replace all the strings that were changed but the structure of the entire file remains. It only edits text in the file.
The Library Symbol is currently not working because the ID of the layer changes, but we can fix that.
Also, the auto layout is not yet supported.
I hope that I was able to answer your question. Let me know if you'd be interested to try Avocode Write with your team! Thanks!
Hey Mark! Thanks for your kind words. Would your team be interested in trying it out? Feel free to email me at vu@avocode.com to get access. Thanks!
Yes it is. But saving in this case also means backing up - syncing to the cloud. And that’s something our new integration takes advantage of. This way developers can pull whatever new version of the design from Dropbox (on their own) and inspect the file in the browser (without design tools).
Hello George, Either choose an entire folder - where you have the design file you’re working on - to by synced with Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/help/syncing-uploads/sync-overview) or select the particular file and mark it for sync to Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/help/syncing-uploads/selective-sync-overview). Whenever you open this design, edit it and save it on your computer, its latest version will be auto-synced to Dropbox.
Hope that helps.
Thanks everyone for participating. Here are the results from our survey: https://www.designernews.co/stories/98381
Thank you Cristian. We do plan to start with the low fidelity stuff. Just like you we're observing a shift from third party tools to design tools, however what seems to be a timeless issue is the incompatibility of tools.
For example, companies having different teams working with different design tool and trying to keep versions in sync or manage design systems. Or developers still having to buy design tools to open design files.
We're aiming to cover all formats and allowing anyone to open design files and prototypes just like you open a SVG or a PDF in the browser. We believe that the future of third party tools like ours is covering the differences between design formats.
Hello Jaewoo, thank you for taking the time on such an elaborative answer.
As I mentioned above, this survey's purpose is to help us understand the prototyping toolkit and workflow of designers, so we could cover it in Avocode. You're correct that we're also would like to use the results to optimize our feature roadmap and the good news is that the whole project is already in the works.
While we understand that other tools already cover prototyping pretty well, we're listening to our user base and people who would like to use Avocode, but are still missing prototype hand-off as an integral part of their workflow. To share a bit from the results, most designers are prototyping in Sketch and seem to prefer having prototype support as a part of hand-off tools.
Since we have already gathered a lot of answers - which we are super-grateful for - we cannot significantly change the survey at the moment. However, we added an open question at the end and also added "If no, what do you currently use" to the first question.
Thank you for all other recommendations. We'll consider them in our upcoming surveys.
Thanks, Andy! Let us know your feedback if you decide to try it.
Agreed. That’s why octopus is json. Feel free to read more on our page.
“Octopus is an universal design format that carries all representations of layers, effects, text, and layout, regardless of the original design format.
It is a JSON object that is easily readable and accessible.”

Have feedback?
I'm excited to hear that! It's currently available at avocode.com. We haven't announced it yet though, so there are no marketing or help center articles yet. But I'd be happy to give you a demo. Feel free to email me, I can do the demo with you.
