I'm in love with the Muji double rings notepad. It's affordable at $3 for 80 sheets. Easy to turn pages or remove sheets with the double rings. Good quality, so it's pleasant to draw on it, but it's not too expensive so you don't worry about wasting paper :-)

I don't get the Moleskine crazyness too, maybe it make sense when you're a skilled illustrator and you want to keep your creations. In my case, this is just quick icons drafts before vectorizing.

Not a front end dev, but I code the websites for my products. I

I'm using Sublime text, also for the HTML & CSS preprocessors I'm using Codekit, a fantastic Mac app to compile preprocessed code. I'm using Jade for HTML, and Stylus for CSS.

Also, we couldn't figure out why some icons are in solid style (mainly made from black parts), and others are in line style. Cannot understand the logic of it.

    Thanks for the mention, Vincent!

Yes, we worked on a huge collection following the google Material guidelines (4000 icons...), and we were surprised at first by the inconsistencies in the Google icons. Another thing we noted is that the typeface are not always the same, sometimes it looks like an helvetica, sometimes more like a squared font.

You can check our collection here, i hope you will find it more consistent:

We worked hard on being consistent. But being a team of just 4 people make it easier for consistency. In the Google case, I guess there are tons of designers from different projects that create icons, that are merged later on the public collection. I don't think they have a centralized team for icons. Does anyone knows how they works?

  • Posted to Have anyone used the new font manager app RightFont?, Nov 12, 2015

I've bought it, and I love it :-)

It's the app I was waiting for since the death of Fontcase!

The main feature I love is the grid preview of fonts. That's the more efficient way for me to browse fonts.

It's simple to use, not bloated like Font Explorer and others. There is some great features, like it sort the google font or typekit font together. Or you can just double click on a font and it will apply the font to your Illustrator or Sketch text.

Top of that, they make frequent updates. It's fast, light and efficient. Just try it :-)

Actually this app can export as vector, you have to deactivate "Enable PNG" in the preferences. So yeah, it's a cool app :-)

Nice idea.... but in PNG?? What's the point dropping PNG in Illustrator or Sketch? I've just published today an article that explain why we should stop using PNG, and how you can do it.

  • Posted to "Better Icons": Help improving icons + get 100 free icons, Mar 20, 2015

As an icon designer, I've created this forum to get feedback from users (developers, designers) about their workflow, their needs... And produce better icons to help them.

I also give for free 100 icons of my - coming soon - angular icons collection. Check them, they are amazing :-)

Started as a way to get feedback on my own icons, the goal of this forum is now larger. I want to improve the standard for all icons. And answer to questions like: "how can we stop using PNG and switch to 100% vectors,?", "which grid size is the best?".

I also have a project of an open source application to manage all these vector icons we get from different libraries, and make it easy to export as vector files like SVG, XAML, PDF...

    Join the conversation now :-)
