It was actually in the late 90s. Just looked it up on the way back machine a few weeks ago.

Instrument's page about the rebrand, with all the related designs and discussion on their process for this project, seems to have disappeared. It was here before: www.instrument.com/work/stripe, but I can't find any archives of it. Wonder why they took it all down, and asked UC to pull it too?
I just spent 30 minutes yesterday trying to find your last post of these, unsuccessfully. Woke up to find this at the top of DN. Awesome timing, thanks for sharing Marc!
I think the audience felt the same way - interestingly, that was the one demo they didn't cheer after, when he introduced it like that.
I do love this. It looks great and works well. Been using it since it came out - really cleans up my menubar, which has become unruly since many apps that I need for work will only live there these days.

Totally. I miss doing these.
I'll definitely design a new personal site & portfolio for this year's. Would have been a new company website, but we managed to get it out the door for our fifth birthday.
Yep! Anything to be deferred I just copy & paste over to the day I want to defer it to - usually the next day, sometimes a backlog note.
I used to use Inboard which was good (and it had a folder that synced with my Dribbble likes which was nice), but lately I've just been dropping things into Evernote.

I couldn't agree with this more. Huge pet peeve. I hate that so many companies are doing this these days.
Even Slack is on the trend, and their implementation of it is particularly bad when you're logged in (go to your Slack URL + /plans).
