hahah exactly this.
Anyone know how they achieved the button animation effect? I noticed it's using React to inject DOM elements and move using transform but I'm wondering if there are any articles or guides on that technique sans react.
A followup to my first video.
I think I improved the mic quality and video resolution this time around but definitely need to work harder on cutting the lengths down in half. It's just really hard to get a 30 minute version of this.
Great point. I'll tease the end result in the beginning of the video. I'm definitely someone who immediately launches a demo of code before reading through so I can see that would great to include.
Thanks for watching!
I love CodePen but I'm just most comfortable coding locally. I use Gulp + BrowserSync to achieve similar "live reload" results.
I use the 'Audio-Technica ATR2100-USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone' https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QJOZS4 but I think I need to tweak the settings as the quality is still not quite where I would like it to be.
I think these designs can often be coded in many different ways. It would definitely be interesting to see how other fellow frontend devs approach the same design.
I'm not really sure tbh. I'm always interested in learning how to improve my own code quality and learn about different approach for the same end result.
I've been thinking about the segments and I think since I do all my CSS in a modular approach, I can easily timestamp for viewers each area. 30minutes is definitely the current consensus.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback! Greatly appreciated :)
Awesome thanks for the recommendation. He definitely has a nice quick speed - I honestly don't think I could reach the 10minute mark while achieving the level of detail I'm aiming for in these videos but it seems most are in agreement with the 30 minute mark.
Any idea what Mic he or other good screencaster use? I bought an 'ok' mic and it might just be my settings and/or setup but I feel his audio quality is so much better.
Awesome job. I read your write-up on the redesign and noticed you mentioned using "smoothState.js" but it looks like it doesn't include or provide transitions. How did you go about adding those to your site? Custom CSS classes or some CSS/JS animation library?
Gil hasn't upvoted anything yet.
