I think Stephan made a very fair point. Although our offerings are not as broad or far reaching as Lumi's, our services are very similar. It was our oversight during the hectic prelaunch moments to "get back to it." (Hell, I even forgot to upgrade our Fontdeck account from trial until the very last minute!)

Far be it from me to intentionally cause any boiled blood, but it did give me the opportunity to go through and revise some things so that our voice is unique—and we'll continue to do so indefinitely in the UI, marketing, and our customer support.

I hope no feelings were permanently damaged in the process, and that we can learn from one another. (I suppose that's what this community is about.) This launch was a number of "firsts" for me, and I've got a page full of notes on where I need to improve next time.

Hey Matt, maybe you got a reply notification to my response to Sander below, but I've done a bit of digging, and though shipping internationally is not currently on our docket, it's my understanding that Lumi (lumi.com) ships globally. Happy stamping! :)

Understood, and yea it certainly does. I'll work on some improvements—sorry it came off as lazy. I know you guys have put a ton of work into your product. This is our first foray into a bit of a new realm, and I hope we can find a way where you're not feeling as though we're stepping on toes.

Hey Stephan, I totally hear you. We've been contrasting our site with Lumi's for a while, and though we want to offer the same level of service, we certainly don't want to be a carbon copy.

The FAQ stuff was definitely last minute—the legal stuff was either copied from Shopify's auto-filler, or pulled from other sites like Facebook, Twitter, among others just to get something in there.

We're a big fan of Lumi's, and I have used your stuff in the past. We've been working on building our customer base on Etsy for about a year and a half. I'm hoping we can find a bit of space for one another—we are fans of yours. Thanks for the heads up about the content. I'm going to jump on a rewrite asap.

Thanks Matt, and good point on the Fiverr/99 Designs thing. I was hesitant to put those on there too, as they're not something I support as a designer. I was, however, at a bit of a loss for another "quick and inexpensive" solution to offer.

I would hope a design project for a logo gets the attention it deserves, but a number of our customers have asked for super simple designs in the past (eg. this word in this font), and since we're not offering in house design services I wanted to point them in the right direction—perhaps we'll rethink that strategy.

Definitely. Thanks for the insight on your shipping experiences! We'll dig in, and if we're able to offer shipping at a rate that seems affordable, we'll implement. And if that happens, I'll be sure to post an update to the DN community.

    Cheers Hans! That's awesome feedback.

Glad you were able to understand the pricing—you're right to assume that it's based on size. You can use the little slider or the text fields to adjust the size of your stamp's imprint.

Regarding image processing—there is certainly some secret-sauce in there, but we started with finding and customizing a JS port of Potrace to analyze raster images and convert them to vector. That, and a dash of magic. ;)

Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks again for having a look!

Hey Matt, thanks for checking it out.

At the moment we've only got Canada and USA in the pipe, but have got a few shouts from UK and Australia. Once the post-launch bug-watching calms down (a couple days), we're going to price it out and see if it's viable.

Have you done much shopping from the US shipping to UK before? What kind of prices have you seen? (For some reason I assume they're astronomic, but I could be very wrong.)
