Where should we go to lunch when you are in SF next?

I worked at Dropbox when we shut down Mailbox. We loved it internally - I just don't know if there is many ways you can monetize considering gMail / Outlook own the market.

This sounds more like Astro "failed" (couldn't raise more $$ due to poor growth) and Slack acqui-hired the team. I wouldn't hold your breath for a Slack email client.

I attended F8 a few years ago when I worked at Facebook. You'll get some free stuff, which could be nice. Diplo played the after party. I didn't attend any of the design talks. It seemed mainly focused on engineering. Unless you have a business that uses Facebook's features or tools - I would recommend attending a design focused conference.

Just don't use a hamburger menu on the mobile version and you should be good to go.

"Users continuously explore music library searching for a new music that suits their tastes. It should be easy. "

Which is why you included a prominent and obvious search area. Or not - wait, where the heck is search?

  • Posted to How Apple can catch up to Google ratings and Yelp reviews overnight, Jan 21, 2015

I worked on the Ratings and Reviews product at Facebook. Most people don't even know that the product exists, but it was built to support the pages product and local discovery.

I think the novelty of adding a ratings feedback mechanism to messages is clever, but there was nothing said about the diluted messaging experience (as well as the out of context ask for data). I'm just trying to message my friend, and now you are asking me for feedback?

Facebook might or might not receive more ratings and reviews than Yelp, but the struggle was always getting QUALITY reviews and building a community that wanted to give great data. Most people don't know that Yelp and Amazon actually has a VIP program for people who give great reviews (amazon gives you free stuff, not sure what yelp gives you).

My feedback is this: Your execution clearly shows that you can tack on a product to a high traffic area and get data, but I don't think it's a wonderful user experience or does a great job of getting high quality data to help make a decision(reviews).

  • Posted to Ask DN: Complete App Experience with FramerJS, Dec 04, 2014

I've done some extensive prototypes at Dropbox for products, but this isn't common since it takes a lot of time to make a bunch of interactions work together in a mock "app". Framer is great because you can quickly "sketch" multiple variations on a single interaction. Making a complete app experience might be nice for selling a final concept - but it just doesn't typically justify the time investment in building it.
