Where the design community meets.
I started http://uxtree.io a couple of months ago, it is a site with design courses. I have two free courses, and one paid course. I've made several thousand dollars off of the paid course in the past few months.
Shameless plug: If anyone wants to get their feet wet teaching a course on the site and earning passive income, email or tweet me! I am looking for instructors.
Nice, 'About Face' is one of my favorite design books
Thanks for posting this, designing for VR is something I've been really interest in the last few months (I've been learning Unity).
I'm surprised to see Quartz Composer being used to design for VR, that actually sounds really promising as it is a tool I'm already familiar with. Would love to see more of this!
DN: I always found Apple's Keynote to be a really great tool for designing, animating, and prototyping. I created a course + UI Kit with many popular app examples to show how I do it. There is a free chapter (you can just click preview in the syllabus below).
Let me know if you have any questions.
Hey Jordan, this is my process for getting prototypes on device:
Download the iOS Keynote app.
The iOS app is forced to landscape (unfortunately) so you have to make sure your presentation is rotated-- there are scripts out there that handle this automatically.
Transfer your presentations over via iCloud or iTunes.
If you want to learn more I explain this process and include the rotate script in the full course--you can check out the link in the tutorial. I don't want to plug it too much here.
Thanks Jordan, just updated it.
Paul, this is awesome. I've been meaning to dabble on the UI design side of React Native, but this looks like it'd make the process a lot easier. Keep up the great work at Pixate.
Great work, I really enjoyed this talk. I never worked much with Pixate before but it actually looks like a pretty ideal solution for prototyping mobile apps. Their bit on "Export to Swift" was exciting, that'd be a game changer.
DN: I hope this workshop is helpful. When I was personally designing Android apps at my day job, I found that the gap between my static design mockups and the development process were too far. I really wanted a way to edit the actual UI, in the code, so that I would have more control over the final product.
Android Studio is the software that developers use to actually create full-production Android apps. In these videos, I share how designers can get closer to the process of UI development for Android apps.

I want to learn Unity & 3d studio max, I believe Virtual Reality will have the next great UX challenges/opportunities.
