They have a ton of great articles on their Medium channel too.

Posted to affinity designer cut out piece, Dec 05, 2014 If I'm understanding correctly you can use the pathfinder tools. Select both layers and either go to "Layer > Geometry > Subtract" or you can click the "Subtract" icon in the upper right of the app.

I've been using Pixave to replace Ember. It's been a decent replacement so far. Doesn't have all of the same features, but for grabbing/saving images, it's been pretty good. http://www.littlehj.com/mac/
