It works a lot like Figma does it. So you have a master component and you can override everything of the components. So also color and stuff. But if you want to edit the master component you have to "enter" the symbol. So editing in place and then you can apply those styles to the master or edit the master directly.

Was also there last night. Talked to the engineer that worked on motion. The plays are to implement that timeline like way of motion design in the tool aswell. But it will be in a later version. Also plugins is something a team is working atm.

I'm a lefty too and i've been using the Magic trackpad for designing for the last 2 years. Really like it, drag and drop is done quite easily with two finger use. I use my middle finger to move the mouse and my thumb to press down. In this way its quite easy to drag stuff arround. Might be something you're going to have to get used to but the position of my arm on the desk is a lot better then the magic mouse.

The thing he is missing in his article is that people use maps differently than back in the day. There is search now, so people just enter the name of the town they want to go to and get directions. You also don't have to figure out your current locations because there is GPS to give you a blue dot where you are.

All in all, yes there is less information on the map, but people don't need it anymore to understand where they are or want to go, people use search now.

  • Posted to Ask DN: What prototyping tools do you use?, Mar 21, 2016

For bigger flows and complete prototypes for apps or websites I use Invision and for small interactions and animations, I use Principle. Really happy with Principle, compared to other programs it's really quick for small animations.

Definitely Principle ( Great tool to quickly mockup some animations without code knowledge.

I normally have a page with a styleguide with various default UI elements with all of their states.

For devs it nice as well to recreate that page to have all standard UI elements in perfect sync with your design.

I really love Principle. I made a few animations with it so far and I guess I ran into the max it is useful for. A short video of the app I created with it for fun: Dictionary app add flow. For this flow there were quite some artboards and animations.
