Great course Pablo, nice & crisp. Though I have covered basics and created few prototypes by myself this course still taught me few things to play around and up my game.
Not so good looking but there's one comprehensive site called, [Autopsy](autopsy.io).
The blog doesn't seem self-explanatory to be honest, though you can go through Hacker News Thread where others have explained it beautifully.

I love how beautifully they incorporated the "stripe" icon/mark/atom. Look Here

Where Luke's article directly talks about solutions. This talk is planned to be humorous in a way, taking things lightly. 2nd half of the talk focusses only on alternatives and how drop downs can be used better.
They added colors! The older one with black and white illustrations with Red links looked great. Sadly, can't find the screenshot on Wayback Machine.
I think their user base reaches beyond designers i.e. their prospective client and I'm sure that they aren't much of designers. Underconsideration LLC is the company of the two which takes up design work. Yes, of course the site design, font, colors.. should be their identity but it shouldn't miss out on the bigger picture of how the website would be used & who are the target audience.
