Nope. Went from a regular 6 to the SE. Had to unlearn the accessibility function to send half of the screen within reach of my thumb.

Was it a larger % and a smaller total number? Or were both metrics larger?

Yeah, I agree with your sentiments here, particularly: "don't overestimate your skill at making understandable icons."

I'm a little split on this one. It does indeed emphasize, but it almost always interrupted my reading of the copy as it animated in.

Yeah, unfortunately this broke the news to me as well...better get ready to tell my clients :/
