DN mobile app - when?

Just wondering, can we expect official DN mobile app in 2019? Thanks!

      This is my exact use case. And every time I open it, Safari asks me to log in with my saved password. I click ok, and them on every new post/page wants me to login again and again and again.......

        I e-mailed them sharing this as I’m also experiencing that. I’ve also asked for an api token so I can make my own DN app (and possible share) But no answer.

        I kind of understand why. if people start making apps, that work better than just coming directly to the website, people will stop seeing ads and job listings, and they may not want that drop on the number of visits.

        Just assuming.

        Use a better browser than safari then :)

        Safari is to apple users what Internet Explorer is to windows users IMO - something you use to download firefox or chrome.

          What about the reading list? The keychain? The iCloud tabs? The history etc . Should I really change my browser experience because of one single bugged website? This doesn’t happen on any other website, only DN. Not to mention that safari is the default so every link from the email newsletter will open on safari, so that I can then open it in chrome? I really don’t get his “change browser” argument, Next step is change phone entirely ? Yeah because every browser on iOS are pretty much safari with a skin on top.

          Is it too hard to remove the login fields from the dom when you’re logged in?

      Better native experience, ability to have post notifications (reading DN on mobile)...

        Sure... but why?

        Everything here can be done via a PWA (Notifications and at least a 'better' UX) and there's little gain to them to build an app but the cost to do so would be hilarious. It is probably not feasible for them to pay someone to do it to a quality that would make a bunch of designers actually use it. They could probably build a hybrid app that is worth their time though.

    Please, DN facilitators, do not do this.

    Aside from the fact that there is copious research on the fact that users tend to only use a very small number of apps regularly on their phone - posing a possible lack of benefit vs cost - this site can't even keep it's blue header bar stuck to the top of the frame when scrolling, and you expect them to deliver a native iOs app?

    Maybe you could develop one for them, and then present it to them? I mean, the internet is what you make of it.

    I suspect it's not a high priority for them to develop, but who knows. Several unofficial apps did exist at one point, but died on the vine.

    There have been many: https://www.designernews.co/things Even beyond that list many have been made, but they're generally no longer maintained. Some were really nice too.
