How do you track your billable hours?

over 4 years ago from , Graphic Designer

Hi everyone, my first time on DN here!

I've been exploring different software to track billable hours, and I'm not sure which one is the best.

Right now I use a basic note file for every project and log hours as I go as accurately as possible. But I'd like to discover a more efficient way to log things like travel, meetings, accounting, calls etc.

What's your preferred method?

Cheers!

Using And.co which has a nifty timer, among other things. It's free and also lets you accept online payments through Stripe.

I know it's not really what you're asking for, but I never have and never will charge by the hour. It never really made sense to me. I'd suggest watching this:

      Thanks Todd!

I've actually watched many videos by Chris Do. He's brilliant, and I generally agree with his theories on hours vs. value.

For me, this is more of a personal tracking where I want to know what I'm spending more time on and how I can allocate / improve. For example, if I'm spending way too much time in meetings, or on a single project I'd like to be somewhat aware of that.
