The Case for Asynchronous Design Meetings (medium.com)

Great breakdown. There's a case for more asynchronous communication when it comes to just about everything work-related – the hardest part is getting people to buy in and believe that real-time communication isn't the only kind.
As the article says, it's so important to not only frame the context of the feedback required, but also the designs being presented.
Putting designs on Invision and simply asking for general feedback will create work for yourself and cause problems, inc. lots of unnecessary questions and out of context feedback that you have to spend time on.
Asynchronous for feedback, synchronous meetings for quick decisions and aligning thinking, workshops for complex designs.
I think the article especially hits home with introverted people. Extroverts are the ones who need convincing to do more of these.
