I strongly dislike using plugins with Sketch for this reason. Dynamic Button screwed up a bunch of my files when it stopped being supported.
Paddy was an exception and has made my life easer. Understandable, but sad to see it stop being supported. Hopefully, Sketch will implement this feature soon.
Starting to feel like Sketch has made some serious mis-steps in their plugin architecture.
I'll miss you Paddy :(
" look forward to shipping a native solution for the same problem in the near future" =/= building native support
Would you mind elaborating what you mean by that?
That I didn't understand the comment in that thread as a certainty that the native functionality was currently being developed, more of a "we would like to do this sometime in the unspecified future"
While I agree that any type of vague commitment by companies should be definitely taken with a grain of salt, the context and – I would say – the wording seem to indicate that it is actively pursued (as is corroborated by the statement linked by Ravi Shanker below).
However – and I would certainly like to be wrong on this – I think this kind of feature would warrant another major release, which would mean waiting a long time.
I hope that they're able to push this in a [point] release. Having to wait for a major version is painful.
Here is another conversation that they are indeed working on this functionality to be native to the platform
awesome! i happily stand corrected :)
Great - I just started using this yesterday.
I also wrote to Bohemian support and yes… they seems to be on it..!
A crucial plugin that will be sorely missed.
