I am the only one who thinks that a circled watchface on a square body looks silly?

Besides the overloaded screen. I will need more than a glance. Maybe there is a rounded Apple Watch around the corner somewhere that will rectify this weird watchface.

Nope, honestly by now I expected them to have dumped the square face and gone with a circular screen. Always felt like a big compromise from day one, but maybe hubris is preventing them backtracking on that.

Then again I also don't expect this product to still be sold in 5-10 years with their focus heading to AR.

Not quite sure regarding the 5-10 years timeline and the ditching of the apple watch. Back in the day they said that the Watch is more important than the iPhone for them. AR is their new project (Everybody knows) but you will need a companion device which will have the technological power to drive the glasses. So i think at the moment their final vision is to have a Watch which drives parts of the Glasses. You can also think about the Watch as an input device which can be used as input for AR.

Think they'd say the same today?

I could definitely see that as a possibility, not sure you'd still need the screen on it though.

Of course that's assuming the glasses work perfect enough that a real LCD screen no longer matters as much.Check out the project Northstar demos to see what I mean.

Quite interessting approach, regarding the LCD there is already technologie under way called microLED and they bought a AR company in mai this year.

Yes. let's ditch an interface that has been hugely successful and redefined the wearable fitness tracker market on the remakes of armchair product designers. The watch face is only ONE aspect of what this device does and a round screen is far less conducive to the other tasks watchOS is able to perform. I cringe every time I see an Android Wear screenshot with a text feed and only a fraction of the copy is readable at a glance because the round shape obscures it.

Since when has Apple been about good UX? They ship a keyboard with such little travel you can actually feel your fingers ache after using it because they're hammering against aluminum without cushioning. Ticking RSI time bomb.

Besides Apple Watch is a fashion item first, just look at the team.

Good argument. I especially love the data you use to back it up. Yeah, I can see how the watchOS UI and UX is a huge failure. Apple really needs to kill that division and move on. /sarcasm (in case it wasn't obvious)

Agree with the overloaded screen part, especially the color palette of the leaked watchface. Looks like no consideration at all went into it. Then again maybe they're going for that candy-colored slot-machine look to drive up engagement.

With their "gather round" I figured it was a long shot but they might drop a Moto 360 style round watch option?
