  Important to mention this is text version of Space Mono by Colophon. Another open-source typeface. Actually one commisioned by Google for their Google Fonts collection. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Space+Mono
  The lowercase g is one of the prominent characteristics. The Space Grotesk tries to stay true to the Space Mono but it is very different typeface. Most of it is completely redrawn.

    Yeah I appreciate the lowercase g is one of the fonts standout characteristics and is designed like that for a reason, it just instantly irritated me.

  Actually, there is major update coming in few days. It includes some significantly redrawn characters (including more conventional lowercase g) and also a bunch of new stylistic alternates, which will make the overall appearance a bit closer to Space Mono (mostly more pronounced ink traps, "that" lowercase g, and also "that" uppercase R :)
