Most of these features will be default come OSX Mojave
Hey Matthew! macOS Mojave provides less functionality than CleanShot. Our Quick Access Overlay allows you to access multiple screenshots, not single one like Mojave. You can also generate perfectly aligned window screenshots with background in 1 click, or set different wallpaper (or a plain color) only for screenshots. And of course hiding Desktop icons :)
I know, I'm just letting other designers know that lots of the features are going to be available.
There will also be quick edit features with Mojave and video capture. So if people like the tool for just those reasons then Mojave has them covered.
Most of this stuff will be out in Mojave, and I'd say the few things this app does are not worth the $15. It's just bad timing man, sorry.
man so much shade... You made something and its awesome. I record my screen all the time and have to move files that I'm temporarily using because of this. Often I will just dump things in a folder so it cleans things up just a bit more. I think this is a great. Not everyone is cool with running terminal commands or remembering shortcuts.
I'd use Shift+Cmd+4+Space
Sold. If it's similar to the quality of PixelSnap it's a no brainer.
$15 to hide icons... hmm...
CleanShot provides a lot more than that. See for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3rTSxqF03M
I know this is Mac specific—but for Windows peeps—ShareX is incredible. It's the best Screen capturing & sharing tool I've ever used. And it's open source!
I am just using the good old Terminal command to hide everything from the Desktop: defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop false
( Don't forget to restart the Finder after executing the command)
Like othershavementioned, can’t the icons just be moved to another desktop and vdeo recording done from Quicktime, Grab, or keyboard shortcuts? I didn’t realize this was a pain point for designers.
Free alternative: https://www.monosnap.com/
Monosnap is great, but I didn't know it could hide desktop icons on capture. How do you do that?
Use "Capture Area", but instead of dragging to select an area, click on the app you want to capture and it will produce a screenshot sans background icons and other apps.
