OK, i will ask because no one wants to do it:
Is it stable?
I've updated and haven't had any problems yet.
Let's see. ;-)
Same, although I don't see any performance improvements.
Seems stable, did have to update a bunch of plugins as well. Hoping this solves a lot of the lag issues i was having...
Follow-on question—how does it feel for files with 30 or more artboards?
So far good for me.
I'm having issues importing artboards to principle since I updated, otherwise seems to be working well.
Yeah same here—can't import artboards to Principle or Flinto.
Had the same problem with import to Flinto and Principle. Has anybody resolve this problem?
Love the fact that when you paste something from illustrator, it creates a new artboard at a random place rather than just pasting inside the selected artboard.
It makes it for a very efficient workflow.
That's a nice feature, I wish I'm on macOS :(
Well... I just hope this is bug, not feature.
I'm having the exact same problem. Not sure how this slipped through beta testing, but it's really annoying.
Honzo, next time you'll keep it short ;)
Michale, it was short when style sections worked properly :) Now it's basically unusable as it shows the name of the first style in a row. :/
Came here specifically to bitch about this. Hoping it's a bug.
July 2nd, 2018. Still a bug in Sketch 50.2. I think they just don't care anymore
Does anyone else appreciate that they have direct download links to ALL previous versions of Sketch on this same page (should you fall in love with a particular version and need to re-download it)?
Ive got a major deadline today. Out of concern of past updates, I'll do it tomorrow.
This is always wise. Never update mission-critical software when the mission is critical.
• rolls up sleeve to show gnarly scar from mistakes of the past •
Sketch has recently COMPLETELY ruined one of our libraries and now we're left with an unusable document that's used by our entire team.
I wish Sketch would fix the root of their technical problems. It's beyond a joke now. You're no longer a little start up with a few people using your product.
Roll back to 49
While rolling back is fine, this update does suck for everyone who, like us, spent tons of hours organizing Libraries a specific way. all sorting is flip flopped now, it sucks.
Can you elaborate? Is it because of the new overrides behaviour in Inspector?
I think it can be also because Sketch changed way they sort the symbols. For example, when you used _naming, it was last on the list; now it's first. God knows how many things like that was changed...
However, I like overrides indentation, that's handy. :)
Abstract appears to work as expected.
I have so many issues with Sketch v.50 that I'm considering ditching Sketch all together and moving to Figma. I can't believe that with each update I need to be worried about previous work becoming trash. Libraries failing. Weird glitching. Constant crashes. Font issues.
I have no idea where these instabilities are coming from but it's gotten so out of hand that I need to consider my options.
Sketch, my message to you is simply: "Guys, what the hell?"
"Scale down images to fit Artboard" At last.
No, it screwed up all my 1x screens, i just updated to sketch50, then i do my craft sync as usual, then i login to invision to check.........then all my screens are half size down!!!! Then i found out the reason is, no matter what my settings were on sketch, when i click craft sync, it always changed my file name to @2x and uploaded into invision! i tried to renamed them to @1x, not working, and then it broke all my interactions on craft sync! T_T Not sure who can fix this....
My point haven't changed :/ https://www.designernews.co/stories/94188-am-i-the-only-one-who-is-not-happy-with-the-new-version-50-of-sketch
They have written a blog post about the reasons behind the missing features that you are looking for. https://blog.sketchapp.com/making-sketch-better-in-version-50-66514771d625
And I already read it :/
I dont feel any performance improvements, small or big files, no change here.
Two ver annoying issues so far not only on my machine:
When editing on a symbols page, the page list is not reacting to a click. You have to click elsewhere in the pages list and sometimes it works. It's not only on my machine...
Clicking in the rectangle in the resizing option (inspector) does not work anymore for selecting every side at once or disable these.
V49 was running better.
SVG export has improved from a design perspective, not sure what the code is like. I'd like to see what other people think?
Can you elaborate? I haven't noticed anything in the code that appears to be different and the file size is the same as before when I compared.
Well if you read the release notes you will get a better idea of the context. They don't go into details.
Yea the release notes are vague on this point, was looking for a concrete example.
Do we really need a sketch update thread every week or two? What next? Sketch 50.1, 50.2 50.3 ?
If anybody wanted to know updates, please subscribe to their newsletter.
Don't spam DN. Keep it clean.
Nested Text Styles are broken, so I'd say this is a valid thread. Don't update to Sketch 50 if you have an intricate library of Text Styles and Symbols.
Do we really need a sketch update thread every week or two?
Yes, yes we do.
Sketch is somewhat unstable when a new major version is released and I would like to know what problems designers are having before I upgrade. It seems we are Sketch's QA department so these threads are important.
What's funny is, I just had 2 problems in Sketch 50 and the first thing I did was come here to see what people were saying. This thread has 40 comments at the time of this comment with you being the only one complaining about this post existing, so maybe respect the fact that others might want this thread.
Anyway, I downgraded back to 49.3 for the time being. "Improved Performance" yet I get the spinning beach ball non-stop.
