I use oil on huge canvas. My design is art.

Pen, mainly because the idea is to run through a lot of quick concepts, not polishing one specific approach.

    Always a pen.

More contrast & smoother. Pencil could be useful if I was to edit, but it's a sketch. If I mess up and sketch needs to be informative, then a correction pen helps.

Sharpie, because what you draw is permanent but the ideas are impermanent — very poetic.

Sketch or Drawing—Hey? I sketch with the Uniball 0.5 and Sharpie. Right now I’m drawing with Penstix and still grooving the Napkin Pen.

I used to be fountain pen and paper but as of late, I've moved completely over to iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and the app Concepts. It's pretty great drawing in vectors and then being able to take those sketches and start working with them directly in illustrator.

My teacher back in the days said. If you use a pen, a pen will force the direction of drawing more than a pencil does. With a pencil you can draw way more detailed and softer than a pen. Even a little touch of the pencil will draw something. With a pen you have to push a bit to let it draw so it will force you to draw in certain directions. And now it depends on what you wanna try to achive...

Pen usually if I want to hash out a quick sketch or small project, pencil if I'm working on a more complex, larger project that has many details or pieces to it.
