Yeah. Like, what? If you're feeling the market out at least explain better what it does and why it's different. Vectors, layers, and object styles eh? You mean like every other professional graphics software on the market? I fucking love Sketch but am down to try different products if they do something better. A lot of tried, but IMO no one has come close to Bohemian.
A new design tool? –Just what the world needs!
Fake — the colors aren't psychedelic enough.
But seriously, after Carousel and Mailbox (both of which I loved) it's hard for me to commit to Dropbox's products.
Mailbox was my fav one mail client. Fuck Dropbox.
They bought Pixelapse a few years ago so I think it is a safe to guess that it will have some kind of version control. They also mention libraries in the text so hopefully it will be able to scale across teams.
It'd probably look beautiful but I'm really not attracted to any design software subscription services. I know I'm in the minority here but Affinity Designer is pretty great for flat-fee and free updates. However, Figma is definitely intriguing.
Terrible execution for fake door test. As we test demand for new products for our clients in a similar way, I am curious why they didn't invest more time into "faking it" into something more realistic and credible. Even from the first paragraph it is evident they have no idea what are they up to so by showing the price they are losing the leads (which is what they want to get from this "exercise").
The pricing bit followed by a specific "this thing isn't real and may never be" notice is just outright weird.
That page would be much more compelling if they showed even a couple of snippets of UI even if it's nothing that will ever see the light of day.
Hey, "secret tool" designers, your company had redesign! This looks very clean, uncluttered and lack vibrant colors!
This is making me curious.
I'm certainly interested to see what they are up to, but I wonder if it's just another case of Vaporware. I mean look at Skala from Bjango, it was promised and promised but never materialized, then Sketch arrived and everyone moved on.
This explains the redesign shit show.
Google Drive is no longer the competitor in their sites.
Maybe they're coming after Figma, Adobe, Invision, etc., etc.?
Not a good week for Dropbox, that was also poor.
I'm looking forward to the dream integration feature.
Please tell me it's not called "Design"
More likely Dezyner since DrOpBoX is so bold nowadays
I immediately wondered if they're considering acquiring a larger design tool and integrating it into their product offering. With their latest rebrand, a design tool would fit their "help people share creative ideas" narrative. Plus, it sounds like they were describing any of the tools that currently exist on the market (Marvel, Framer, Figma, etc...). They have an illustration for a timeline-based animation UI on the lander, which leads me to believe that Framer would be out of the question.
Just a thought. If Dropbox acquired an existing design tool, I'd be interested.
This is such a tacky ploy. Potemkin product pages that tease you then drop you and say 'just wanted to find out' seem beneath a brand like dropbox.
Not sure if it has to be a design tool like Sketch, but better tools to work with the files already in Dropbox, create presentations, etc, would be cool. This could be specific to workflows like copywriting, sign-offs, etc... complementary to things like Sketch.
I dunno, do we another design tool? It's getting to be a pretty crowded market.
