Finally finished the MVP for my side project - come and slate it!

Hi everybody. I’ve been working on a side project https://getacquainted.co/ and finally got to the point of launching an MVP. The concept is a super simple poll/survey creator (multiple choice questions only), in a messaging/conversational format. You can embed the widget onto a page (think intercom button), or send out a link to your survey.

Problems we are trying solve: -Make completing surveys a more fun and intuitive experience for users and allow your brand or product to inject a bit of personality. -A native feeling experience on mobile -Simplify the survey creation (most tools we looked at are wildly complicated).

Everything is really barebones right now but you should be able to create and share/embed surveys and collect results. There are sooo many features we want add but lack the time and money to invest so would hugely appreciate any feedback (even if its pure hate!), to see if it’s worth pursuing.

At a bare minimum, I hope you find my example at least a tiny bit entertaining, but hopefully some of you might find this useful as a tool for getting feedback.

    Hey Stevie! Well executed and you already have some feedback on the visual side here.

    On UX, since we're basically hiding an ugly form under a beautiful conversational Ui, you should have the option to undo decisions: because humans make mistakes.

    That's a great advantage of ugly forms, we can always edit them. Space10 did it in a neat way, despite the bad choice for edit button icon IMO.

    But that could be a pos-MVP version! Best of Luck.

    I'm surprisingly digging the MVP as I am usually not a fan of chat bots in general so I went into it expecting to hate the experience but I enjoyed this concept far more than most surveys I've filled out that are filled with question after question of bland, spartan inputs.

    I could immediately see the value your product could create by helping me increase the data I receive through bite-sized portions instead of more investment heavy traiditional surveys.

    Good stuff, I'll be following your progress!

    The chat bubble transitions are very abrupt and unfriendly. I'd suggest making them much softer and welcoming :)

        I actually enjoyed the transitions. Although I see the abruptness, I think the foundation is perfect just needs a little tweaking.

    Hey :) Cool project! I've been looking for something like that. It reminds me of https://space10-community.github.io/conversational-form/ but a lot more user-friendly.

    Would love the ability to embed it in a blog post or another page and if you allow for a free user answer as well not only predefined that would be great!

      Hi, thanks for your feedback! Funnily enough I came across space10 a couple of days ago, it's a really nice product.

      We definitely want to get to free type answers but it was too much for MVP, if there's demand for the product we'll add it in, along with gifs and images. At this stage we wanted to focus on something really simple, but super easy to setup.

      Also agree about embedding into pages and blogs, we've added that to the roadmap. Cheers

    Really do like it. Feedback is part opinion, part wishful thinking. The animation feels a little too jarring of a pop to it. Seems like it'd still do the job of grabbing your attention with it being a little more smooth.

    I'd really like to be able to build some simple question trees, and be able to split following questions beneath positive/negative feedback on top-level questions. "Does our experience suck?" - "oh sorry to hear that, what makes it suck so much?" type stuff.

    I had fun! I'd use it again! I felt like I was "getting to know you". I liked the comments, on my selections. They were fun. The bubble bounce was irritating for me too. Looking forward to the next iteration! (I like the powered by aspect too)

    I really liked the little demo on your home page even though I'm pretty dead inside and find a few of the quips it replied with a little twee (I want to uninstall Slack everytime it tells me to get more sleep...). One little thing that stalled me as I was signing up to have a go though was the link to your terms of service was broken. Not sure if anyone else has had that but it did stop me from signing up as I just wanted to see what you'd do with my email address. Very interested to have a play around with it though. Well done.

      Hi Mike,

      We have a tonne of features on the roadmap we'd love to implement (question logic, images/gifs, free text), but wanted to gauge demand for the product before continuing as my partner and I work full time so it's quite a commitment.

      We definitely want to keep it free, if it ever got to a point where volume of users mean running costs spiral then we'd look to charge for a Pro version, but will always keep a free tier (this seems like a distant prospect to us right now tho - we are pretty clueless when it comes to marketing etc, ha).

      Sorry if this is a bit vague but it's such early days for us and TBH I've been a bit taken aback by the reaction!

        It'd be good to cover this question somewhere on the site as it might be dealbreaker for companies evaluating your tool. I just want to pay for the tools I use to have some level of guarantee that the tool/company won't disappear tomorrow.

    Nice. I like it. Would be a much more fun way of doing things for simple answers. Would be nice to have a free-form area for text entry, as some of our surveys require that as well.

      Free-form entry is definitely a long term goal, just need to find the time between work and 2 kids, ha ha. Hopefully, if demand is high we'll get to implement it.

    When you use the widget, the ... animation is way too fast. Nobody could type that fast (i know nobody is typing, but the point is to simulate that) Maybe try and slow that process down a tiny bit. To be honest its a bit weird to have it at all, because you're not really talking to someone in the first place, yet you're making the user think you are.

      Based on feedback here we will definitely tweak this animation to find the sweet spot.

      Thought process was to make this feel like a native messaging experience. When we tested it, users responded well as it felt so familiar. This should result in more users completing the survey (hopefully)!

      So, backend is based on Laravel Spark, the widget button and launcher is written with javascript. The widget itself is displayed within an iframe, and uses jquery.

    Hey there. The ... seem to be quite distracting. Have you been exploring the progressive app approach? Since those are just a few strings, why not preload them all at once (or while the user is asked to answer preload a new set), as to keep the flow of the conversation going?

    Also that little bump doesn't do any good. I'd replace it with something smoother. :)
