Still no plain colors choosable on the gradient tap. Sorry but i coming more to the conclusion that nobody at Bohemian ever used sketch. Everytime i want to create a gradient i have to pick the color from one of the layouts...
I have to agree this is a big request of mine too. Currently I have to draw a square with an applied color and sample from that to create a gradient. That and global colors are still a big need.
As a tip if you don't already knew: crtl + c calls the color picker it is a bit faster to a catch a color somewhere but it is inconvenient.
can't possibly agree more
The gradient tool could (and should) be improved, but I'm very much on the other page as to how tuned in Bohemian is to their audience and how Sketch provides value. My absolute favorite thing about Sketch is that the updates so consistently improve my workflow in meaningful ways. Figma's co-editing feature may be the cool new thing in town, but I've never actually needed it. Making symbols more powerful and at the same time easier to use? Yes, please!
As for picking gradient colors, Figma & Adobe XD (and others) do handle this better. They might even be a better fit for your workflow. There are (now) a bunch of design tools and they all have some good concepts, but for my money it's all about the big picture and I still find Sketch does that better than anyone else. So in the meantime I'm willing to wait for these types of improvements, and if Bohemian's track record is anything to go by they'll keep coming.
Didn't fix my shadow bug :(
But lets not get bogged down on individual bugs, as a whole there are a ton of fixes!
Ohh, is this the bug where you can resize the canvas to fix? This always freaks me out.
Don't think so. This just happens when I'm moving layers or zooming around where shadows are involved. It seems to fuck up rendering them :/
yeah i have this constantly, all over. black shadow boxes, random lines, just a lot of artifacting in general when zooming and moving around
Horrid isn't it. You using an external monitor by any chance? Wondering if it's isolated to that.
I've definitely seen this bug on my laptop screen with no external monitor connected. :(
I am but i think it happens when disconnected too. :/ i have also noticed a lot of zooming issues, using an mx master mouse.
Agree, it seems to get a lot worse when using an mx master on an external monitor. Really annoying!
Not really too heavy on the features, but it looks like there has been a ton of bug fixes.
They finally fixed that issue with the group not being resized immediately when you resize the content inside (you had to go in there and Esc your way out to refresh the group bounds).
The new vector guides are awesome.
Plugins are now auto-updated and disabled if not compatible. This may make some plugin managers obsolete, I wish they had something like https://sketchapp.com/extensions/ straight away in Sketch as well with one-click install.

Praise. Be.

Sketchpacks supports one-click install of plugins via sketchpacks.com. But agreed. Native support would be ideal.
Is it just me or does having alignment and colour saved as part of a text style make them kind of pointless? I wish this was at least made optional functionality as currently I end up with either loads of text styles that are simply variations on alignment and colour or text styles that are non-updatable without messing alignment and colour up throughout the project.
I think there’s a need for a differentiation of Character Styles (colour, weight/style, size &c.) and Paragraph style (alignment, line-height, paragraph margins &c.). Currently all type in Sketch is handled at a paragraph level, which doesn’t seem to be the best way to handle individual words or lines of text for things like buttons, labels and inputs.
careful with those feature requests, you might wind up with illustrator
It’s a slippery slope, we could end up backsliding all the way to Fireworks
In summary long form content is a pain to design without using multiple text boxes
And maybe we could finally actually control the style of a bulleted or numbered list.
What might work, several text styles that could be added one after the other, as class in CSS.
I think that makes a lot of sense since in a lot cases, styles are going to get applied that way in code as classes.
Paragraph styles = CSS classes.
Character styles = CSS spans.
Never update Sketch until at least a week after the release when critical bugs are addressed. Wait two weeks if you can, or as long as possible.
BC has a history of releasing buggy updates. Don't take the risk.
+1
I have the luxury of having a Macbook and an iMac for work, so I usually update on my Macbook, make copies of files and then play around with that just to get a sense of the new version.
Amen....and wait for at least two Craft updates :)
These update broke half of our Symbol library for people on my team that updated. Sigh.
Can you elaborate on what the issue was?
Our entire workflow is based on nested Symbols -- based on past releases, very scared to update.
Examples: 1. http://mx.d.pr/EkSVz9 2. http://mx.d.pr/3kGQld (icon dancing around for no reason) 3. http://mx.d.pr/ik5I6M 4. http://mx.d.pr/yz3dBp (Icon and label distance width)
Thanks this helps -- I think I'll pass on this update until I can have a day dedicated to resolving any issues that arise from the update.
They finally fixed a bug with nested symbols. Aleluja. Principle and Flinto now show correct icon.
Improved snapping in the vector editor doesn't work for me. How to enable that? Sketch disabled Smart Guides.
Incompatible with Symbol Organizer
Still incompatible? They seem to have fixed at least the biggest issue: https://github.com/sonburn/symbol-organizer/issues?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=is%3Aissue%20
Yes, Sketch 45 introduced a nasty bug to Symbol Organizer. The issue has been resolved (https://github.com/sonburn/symbol-organizer/issues/25) as was noted in the other response. Please make sure you have the latest and greatest (https://github.com/sonburn/symbol-organizer), and thank you for your support!
Shared libraries still not there.
Color picker updates are nice! I'd love to get an HSL picker one day though, drives me crazy that we use HSL in browsers but HSB in every design tool.
Hi, I made a HSL Color Picker plugin for Sketch.
Incompatible with Sketch Runner plugin yet.
Just manually update Sketch Runner to latest version and you're fixed.
thanks :)
Sketch Runner released an update earlier today:
Update v0.9.2! Works with Sketch 45. Also: for future Runner updates, Sketch plugin panel handles the process..
Still no colour management? > Still having vastly different results from Sketch to browser / phone.
Could that be device color calibration or the color space of images and graphics brought in from outside the app? I always make sure to not embed rgb profiles.
We chose not to burden Sketch with complicated color management support since it would confuse most of the users. Instead, we recognize that the vast majority of our users are designing for the web or for mobile, and Sketch treats colors in a way that makes the most sense for those use cases. After all, everything is sRGB on the web by force, and iOS has no concept of color spaces either.<
They right, more here: https://www.sketchapp.com/learn/documentation/other/color-management/
Fuck that article.
Dealing with this daily. Colors in Sketch look fine, then I export and everything looks desaturated by about 15%
You know what doesn't have this problem? Photoshop.
They are working on a solution to this -- they told me this via their Facebook group.
They said the same thing 2 years ago to a user on twitter. Do you have the message they sent? Was there an ETA? Or just a we're looking into it?
Cool, thanks for sharing. What group is that?
To be fair it just happened to me in Illustrator.
I just ask, because somebody will. Did anybody got some errors? Can it be used in a productive environment? I just ask because the last couple of updates there where some glitches...
Didn't run into any issues so far working on two pretty big Sketch files!
Symbols with overwrites get reset to default state.. (seems like text layers are an exception though)
I had issues in presentation mode after updating and general problems in my files. Alt + Command 3 seems to also be gone
They have reworded some commands like collapsing artboards - I had to go in and edit my keyboard shortcuts after the update :)
This is happening to me too! Could you let me know what command name did you use for collapsing artboards and layers? Thank you so much! :)
Now it's called "Collapse All Groups"
AGGGG third time they've done this thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!
Does Craft work with this update? I can't find it anywhere now...
EDIT Nvm, Craft Beta does not work, but Production does.
Urgh where has 'Hide Layout’ from all Artboards' gone :(
Sketch - Plugins - Run Script..., replace with these code, then save.
var artboards = context.document.currentPage().artboards(); for (var i = 0; i < artboards.count(); i++) { var artboard = artboards.objectAtIndex(i); if(artboard.layout()) { artboard.layout().setIsEnabled(false); } }
Oooooo that's great, thanks Hung. Is there somewhere/tutorial you learnt this script?
EDITED: Ah I think I've found it http://developer.sketchapp.com
Thanks :)
Stop releasing new Sketch versions!
"center canvas" changed to "fit canvas" resulted in messing up the shortcut keys...
BUG
If you drag an object onto an artboard, Sketch will unselect the item and you wont be able to drag it a second time unless you first click away from the artboard.
Related: If you drag multiple objects onto an artboard, Sketch will unselect the top-most item in your selection so if you move the objects again, Sketch will leave behind that object.
