Really nice work! Blazing fast with lots of little delightful interactions throughout. A solid portfolio IMO.
Thanks very much Ray
Dude I just saw your day rate. You should be charging way, way more. Try 450 to 500 a day. You'll easily get it.
Really nice site. Nice and clean but enough decoration to be interesting.
Really awesome work! It's super clean, but still has these wonderful details that keep it interesting. The only critiques I would have is that the grey text you use is really low contrast against its background. There will definitely be a population of people who won' t be able to perceive it. Also a slight nitpick is that the animation that reveals the back button in the top left corner, while super cool, takes a bit of a long time to complete. Even shaving off a half second might help. But again, overall it's really nice and very performant!
Thanks for the feedback KeVon. I think you're right on both points. I'm going to increase the contrast and look at shortening the animation.
This is incredibly clean. And it's Jekyll! Sick! Glad to see whats possible with that. I can't wait to get my hands dirty using it.
One tiny little picky criticism is the little colored indicators next to your case studies would be better suited next to each kind of work they mean to represent, especially since they appear out of order next to the case study title. I had to do cognitively heavy calculations to figure out what they meant, and after I figured that out, I had to figure out what they represented.
I searched for a key, tbh; granted, seeing those brought me excitement, but I was hoping for clearer meaning indication.
Fresh as hell otherwise!
Thanks Cory! Thats very valid criticism. The category indicators were a bit of an afterthought, implemented at the end to give more separation between the case studies and blog posts, and if I'm being honest, to bring in a bit more colour. I think you're right, the implementation needs some work. Thanks for the feedback.
Love the projects page. Great way to show a color block and a screenshot!
Nice. Also, maybe add something that indicates the meaning with the coloured symbols in the Case Studies
section. E.g. next to the types in the What?
section.
That's a great idea.
Very nice site, tachyons is taking over the world. It loads very fast as well.
Thanks Tori, yeah this is only the second time I've used tachyons but I love it. The CSS output is just so small.
Love it!
Such neat.
Sleek work.
Nice shot.
Oh, come on! What is wrong with you people?
Yeah, just fantastic stuff. I'd love to see Trying To Work expand to support user-submitted content for multiple cities. I need that for NYC!
Love that serif typeface
