But... you aren't "designing" the "stack"...
I might be guilty of using this. When I first heard it, it was used to describe a designer whom conducts user research, interaction design, visual design, runs usability tests, etc. At the time it made sense.
I think in retrospect it just adds more confusion.
I think it's more like insurance.
Protection against the flaky generalists & shit managers in the industry opting to water down what a designer can offer (user research, interaction design, visual design, usability testing) – tucking them into a production funnels.
And against UX evangelists / out-dated iA wankers looking to be the Moses of button sizes & site architecture.
