Left after 10s, because of the loader spinning and nothing happening.. If there would be an indicator of how much time I need to wait for page to load, I've might stay.
I ended up waiting a bit longer.
I checked the console, for me the site took 35s to load. There were 142 (!!) requests and 18.1 MB file transfer!
Gorgeous font with fascinating history behind it. Page is heavily over-designed and takes a full minute to load. Also $1000 for an entire font family is outrageous. Not sure who can to drop a MacBook worth on a single font family.
The price is not that uncommon. Many font families not on Typekit, Google Fonts or other hosted services are in the $500-$1000 range.
Take everyone's favorite web font, Proxima Nova—purchasing a perpetual license costs $734.
Who buys a perpetual license? Mostly business and agencies—for many $1,000 is a small expense. When I worked in advertising, the agency had tons of font licenses.
Their specimen pages are so damn beautiful. Check out GT America too. This is how you present type on the web.
The pristine quality of this typeface alongside the absurd performance of its website caused a deep turmoil in my soul.
