I actually had to Google "Happy Cog" to figure out what they did (digital agency) which is probably a bigger problem than the abstract poetry waxing of this rebrand article.
The entire new direction seems to be Brutalism-Corporate or something? Interesting idea.
Yeah, I assumed lots of people would know who they are given it was Jeffrey Zeldman's original agency but time has gone by for sure. I also thought it was interesting.
Most people here don't even know Jeffrey Zeldman, which hurts to admit, but it probably is true...
was just about to make a big stink about how wrong you are, when i realized how right you are. I'm in my mid-40's, and have been working in this field for quite some time now, and for us (in that age bracket) Zeldman is a name we all know, and we all admire him. But as I look around the office and see how many fresh-faced young folks there are here, I see what you mean. Most of these younger kids don't know the man, or how important he was to the community.
I don't even think it has primarily something to do with age, its a generation-thing - as in, another generation of web professionals. I am 27 and I know about him. I see a very big shift in people coming into the web pre and post UX-pocalypse.
Just curious, but what makes you say the direction is Brutalism-Corporate?
Nothing really, there is no brutalism in there. I think he didn't mean to actually use that term.
Love it! The negative space 'c' took me a sec, but when I saw it I had an "aha" moment which made me feel fuzzy.
Well. That surely is underwhelming. But it seems like they didn't show us almost anything. Lets wait for the completed process.
