Love the dark header!
Umm.. dark top bar is really great.
Should have been called "Make GitHub Grey Again"
I was really contemplating that post title haha but I didn't make the extensions so I thought I shouldn't change what the maker decided
Meh. I love the dark top bar too.
I'm mostly just waiting for Mark Otto's hints at some more design updates. I don't specifically hate it, but I hope that it looks more aesthetically pleasing with the new changes to GitHub.
GitHub's aesthetic has been kinda stuck in a look from five years ago. Dark header is the most obvious and glaring change, so I get the divisiveness. That said, the reception hasn't been as bad as the font change from several months ago—someone mentioned that one to me in the elevator of my apartment complex :D.
We'll get there in the coming months, though!
I'm very excited! Also amazing work on Bootstrap 4! When do you think the full release will be out? Also is it difficult to work at GitHub and also on Bootstrap, creating two excellent products? (I'm a huge fan)
Thanks for the kind words! I really want to plow through the remaining issues and ship it today if I could, but it's definitely a struggle to work on both given time constraints and switching contexts. Hoping soon! GitHub has me quite busy these days though :).
Kinda off topic but I just wanted to tell you that I really like the font changes.
Hey, thanks!
I realize that this is really in the nitpicking department, but I think a few minor tweaks might make it a bit more pleasant: - A tad lighter than the current dark blue - 5px more right margin to the logo - A bit lighter search bar placeholder text
Otherwise, I do really like it, it just takes some time getting used to :)
100% behind you on those actually.
Nice! Agreed on the logo margin—right now the spacing is off compared to the right side with the nav, so things look off a bit. I'll noodle on the lighter background color. Already have a higher contrast placeholder search input color on it's way out.
