Maybe when I was younger? I definitely see it in younger folks who are trying to make an impression and any bit of criticism just makes them crumble.

I think with maturity you tend to see these things more as a progression of problems, with an ego-less curiosity on how best to solve them (which can often be completely separate from "what I like or don't like" and thus, not personal at all.)

Totally agree. Experience does give you maturity and insecurities are easier to overcome. Thanks for sharing :)

Both your comic series and the Sketch Together channel on Youtube are quite awesome, Pablo :D

Another cool story Pablo. Reminds me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_Out_(2015_film)

To much sadness and fear in her head :D

Would love to know if this is something that happens to other people—getting creative paralysis because of perfectionism and procrastination.

As a young designer, it affects me a bit but I think I like to put my design up and then tweak/perfect after the fact for way too long... I always find some issues with my work and so I'll correct it and change it in response. (I'm mostly talking about web design and development)

For oldies, I think you have to have a special ideology or ethics that would keep you feeling paralyzed about your creation. But that could be a good thing that makes the work better; as long as you can still turn a profit by the end of it.

I am on the same boat with Matthew as well, being a young designer, it is hard when you constantly look at older and more experience designers whether it be Dribbble or Behance and it just makes you feel incompetent. I am not afraid of criticism or feedback but I am more afraid that "Is this the best design I really have to show for?"mentality and it prevents me from just posting my designs or sharing them at all.
