I'm looking for websites that are nicely illustrated. Like: https://www.intercom.com

I really dig the illustrations on the Pixel Titans website: http://www.wearepixeltitans.com/
In Turn stood out for me stylistically recently, lovely gifs with a nice tongue in cheek charm:
I actually can’t stand Intercom’s illustrations and find their dominating use to be non-sensical and a major distraction. They literally make no sense, distract from what you are reading and offer no value. They resemble bad wallpaper ripped from a child’s bedroom.
That wad of pointless, illegible, graphic junk in the upper left hand part of the hero illustration is agitating AF, the first thing the eyes see is negativity and confusion, and it just gets worse from there with overbearing illustrations taking over.
Though B2B business products are often marketed as consumer products, I find the children’s book style marketing for business products at this capacity to be distracting, if not insulting.
As someone who is heavily part of the purchase influencing process for my customers, I recommend business products nearly everyday.
Stripe, Dropbox, Plaid, Segment, Invision, Slack, Zeplin, MailChimp, Mixpanel and the list goes on and on. Coincidentally, those happen to be fairly clear, legible offerings and I get little resistance.
We have used Intercom in the past for projects, however at the present time, their product offerings are so illegible to those not in the know (i.e., decision makers with the credit cards) - that most, as in the majority, all, who I send to their site “don’t get it” - and just move on. The wads of pointless graphic junk don't help explain the product.
I haven’t had a customer use Intercom in years now.
Alright, had to get that off my chest. :/
Some of the others mentioned, Inturn and Dropbox for example, at least use illustrations with more restraint a semblance of relevance.
Though, it’s not a graphical style I’m drawn to - I find GrooveHQ’s illustrations for their blog posts to be well thought out and lending a nice atmosphere to their stories.
I've made a selection of my favorite website that use illustration.
My top 3 :
The whole selection : here
Woah. Reech & Intercom's colour scheme and style are almost identical.
Also the illustrations on Reech are a ripoff from this illustrator: http://www.zwartekoffie.com/
And by ripoff you mean the style is very similar? (There's a monumental difference between similarity and rip-offs.)
I see stuff that is taken 1 to 1 from him.
That's pretty shit then. You sure they didn't purchase it off some stock photo site?
.edit: shit, seems they have a history of this behaviour? Damn. Apologies for being sceptical :) Lotta finger pointing on these interwebs is not as well grounded.
Yep. The artist I mentioned didn't make those illustrations and they are copied quite sloppy too. I don't think finger pointing is the way to go, stuff like this happens all the time, unfortunately. But I find it so sad to see 1 on 1 copying. Its always good to be sceptical/ask questions right?
Of course!
Are we still friends? :( My fragile designer heart yearns for reconciliation.
(harharrharrr)
N'aww of course. :)
Looks like they're just ripping off whoever they please: https://dribbble.com/shots/3088861-Underwater
I find this one attractive: https://www.reliabills.com/
Stumbled across this beaut today... http://www.thisisyoke.com/
LiveChat has various types of illustrations: https://www.livechatinc.com/podcast/https://www.livechatinc.com/powered-by-livechat/https://www.livechatinc.com/facebook-messenger/
I really like the trend of using illustrations in the VPN-parts of the world: www.tunnelbear.com and www.mullvad.net
Dropbox used to use nice illustrations extensively: https://www.dropbox.com/about
A list apart has thoughtful illustrations as well: http://alistapart.com/blog/post/my-favorite-kevin-cornell
Tomi Um did a set of illustrations for Casper: http://blog.casper.com/
