This is a certificate manager used by the government. Has something like 20 million users due to the fact that installation is required.

While not the first thing I ever designed, it is the first thing I was getting paid to design.

Got my hands on photoshop 7.1 demo (which didnt allow saving, so this is a screenshot of what i made) way back in 2006 ..... starting a chain reaction which has led me to become a UX Designer :)

I created this first logo for my friends southern metal band back in 2006. I was compensated with a handle of Jack Daniels. I freelanced for them for years and did much better work over time...I credit the work I did for them getting my foot in the door at several different places I worked at.

Awww man I love this thread. Such a retrospective. And makes me realize that we need to do hard work to make the gap between our work and our taste smaller (inspired by Ira Glass quote). Anyway here's mine:

My high school website in 2006. My Instructor asked me to make it like Apple's site at the time. Written in PHP. This is what got me into front-end dev & design!

It was actually called the DoomGunn when I designed it but the packaging stayed largely the same (my DoomGunn type was similar to the Doom typeface, not this faux metal texture).

As a student, one of the first things I designed were placing some dots and rectangles on an art board to convey the 6 principles of design.

Professionally, right out of school I designed a few sign programs for large retail/hotel/residential properties in Hawai'i.

This one in particular I'm not the most proud of design wise, but it was my first design to go live permanently, or at least until further notice.
