It's almost like an April Fools. Looks interesting, and definitely something to have on the office bookshelf.. But $200 - $300?
It's almost like a metaphor for their hardware.
“Designed by Apple in California” is available in two sizes and printed on specially milled, custom-dyed paper with gilded matte silver edges, using eight color separations and low-ghost ink. This linen-bound, hardcover volume was developed over an eight-year period.

Mmm. Big product images in a book for an inexplicably expensive price. Nope.
It seems like something that would be better suited for consumption on a... iPad?
Price is generally on par with books of this kind.
(The real story is this was actually something they felt a need to make at a time when so much of their Mac line is suffering)

Tell me about it. I came here to read up on people's thoughts on the book only to be met with memes. The book is a commemorative showcase of 20 years of design and engineering. This is some people's life's work.
While I personally won't be buying it, I sure as hell would love to flip through it.
I do agree with both of you and I honestly want it. $300 is rough though, so it'll be a hard decision.
Can you blame people? This could have easily been a small site, but instead its an overpriced book. Camaaaaan

It isn't an Apple product it's a vanity project.
