Usually new trends take a little time getting used to, but I'm not sure I'll ever be a fan of Brutalism. The examples in the article are, in my opinion... ugly?
It's been back for a while. People have been dropping into conversations for the past year and a half or so. It used to be mine to make me sound cultured. MINE!!!!
walked past one of my favourite examples of brutalism every day to work, and finally decided to google it... http://fkaustralia.com/projects#republic-tower
Photos unfortunately do not do it justice... Up close, the contrast between the materials is incredible.
The location is also surprising because in general, the architecture in Melbourne is awful.
I agree, photos don't do brutalist architecture any justice, you're missing all the scale and the texture.
