Account deleted over 6 years ago The writing was on the wall ever since the acquisition. I really hope Framer stays independent. Google stay away!
Greg Warner, over 6 years ago (edited over 6 years ago ) I was afraid the acquisition would mean this. I was just wondering earlier what the future of the tool would be. Pixate seemed a bit limited to me though, so I'll be excited to see what the team produces in the future.

I guess Google will soon come out with a new prototyping tool focused on ugly, cheap and bland Material Design.

Guess I started learning Framer at the right time. But seriously, after Mailbox shut down, this is starting to feel personal.

No, just a guess. If Google kills the more approachable Pixate, I can't imagine they will keep the niche product Form. I never quite understood, who Form was for anyway: People, who loved Origami but hated it's dated look and (un)stability? Was that ever a large enough target audience?
On the other hand ... I never understood why Google bought not just one, but two companies with completely different approaches to animation design. Would love to hear the reasoning behind the whole endeavor.

I was a big fan of Form, you could say, but I was a big QC fan before that. Each one did some things better and some things worse than the other.
Now my hopes are on Origami Studio, or whatever it is they're calling it.

Fortunately in their blog post they link you to the final build of the product, so at least you can have/use that indefinitely…or until the next OS version breaks everything :(
Joe Blau, over 6 years ago They link you to Pixate Studio. I bought the product before the pivoted to that which was supposed to be a way to style iOS and android apps using CSS which is now called Freestyle.
That product is free and open source now, but I bought into the whole think hook line and sinker.
Right there with you. Was a Kickstarter backer.

I'm sensing this a few months ago when there is no major update or improvement. that's why I stop using Pixate. sad, really promising specially for prototyping android apps

It's been practically dead for well over a year. I continued to use it because it had some video support, but Principle has since taken over.

For now, but I have no problem paying for software that I use for work.
