How do you effectively analyze what your users are doing?

(web, not iOS or Android)

I want to use data to inform my designs, but struggle.

Currently, my company uses New Relic to analyze usage. I’ve poked around in there, but it’s been too SQL-heavy for me to really make use of it (yet). We also have an integration with Intercom, but I have not poked around that at all.
