Hey all, we redesigned our Hacking UI homepage. It now includes: - A promotional area up top (from time to time we will have projects we would like to promote
Featured HUI sections - for all that we have going on. (HUI is way more than a blog now, as we have the podcast, SWAG for designers, our resources page, and many more).
Recent posts feed: Notice the new structure of posts combining images and typography + excerpts. We're especially proud of this one :)
What do you think?
I just want to add that the goal for this homepage redesign was to better show our transition from being just a blog to having much more to offer and multiple media outlets. In the past we wanted to focus on the most recent blog post and did so by having a gigantic featured image. Now we have the blog feed further down and want to focus more on our product offerings such as The Side Project Accelerator, the podcast, resources, etc.
Oh, and we also felt that by adding the post excerpts to the feed, instead of only titles, it gives the feed a more "scholarly" look if you will. We wanted to represent that each post has a lot of content inside. This was more on a mutual feeling we had, than any objective method to back it up, so would love to hear from you guys if this is true and you feel the same.
