        Sure, let's lose all privacy on the internet. Got any more of these ideas?

        It's Google, they didn't make this keyboard for fun. I'm waiting for someone to capture the traffic and find out what exactly they're doing with full network access besides serving search results.

        It's a great product at a price.

    Saw a comment on TNW that seemed quite relevant... Now Google can use anything you type on your phone for recommended searches, advertising etc..

      The team aims covers this concern directly in the release notes.

      Gboard

      What Gboard sends to Google: • When you do a search, Gboard sends your query to Google’s web servers so Google can process your query and send you search results. • Gboard also sends anonymous statistics to Google to help us diagnose problems when the app crashes and to let us know which features are used most often.

      What Gboard doesn’t send to Google: • Everything else. Gboard will remember words you type to help you with spelling or to predict searches you might be interested in, but this data is stored only on your device. This data is not accessible by Google or by any apps other than Gboard.

        When you switch on Allow Full Access you get an alert modal stating: "Full access allows the developer of this keyboard to transmit anything you type, including things you have previously typed with this keyboard. This could include sensitive information such as credit card number or street address. Allow? Don't Allow?"

        Maybe this is more of a general OS alert, but it also means you just have to take Google at their word.

          Just don't press the Gboard button to send off sensitive info. I'm sure if you just send your credit card info using the normal message, Gboard won't know about it. I could be wrong though.

      That's why I'm always wary of third-party keyboards (even though they do make our lives easier). It's akin to someone installing a keylogger on your computer.
