Canary Mail / Epicurrence 3 - Identical Websites

over 7 years ago from , Design & Development Lead

Just saw this hit the front page, then the original link (for canarymail.io) got pulled, so being the helpful person I am, thought I'd post it back up.

Canary Mail

Epicurrence 3

So, what's the deal with this? The details of these sites are identical, the lined background, the small icons, the drop shadows.

Comment on the original story claimed Canarymail was the rip-off. Epicurrence 3 was done by Rally. Anyone going to step up and admit their mistake? Think there's some pretty serious plagiarism being committed here.

    Hi Joe,

I'm the co-founder of CanaryMail, and although the website was not developed in-house, we take full responsibility for this. We've taken the website down and are reverting back to our old website.

We'd like to apologize to all concerned.

    Sincerely.

The version that's up now really does a much better job of showcasing the product.

I was going to comment earlier that the product looks cool but that website did a terrible job of showing off the product and to pick a different template (I had recognized the design and thought it was a template, not a site-rip).

BTW, the Epicurrance website is AMAZING. Love those crazy layouts the guys at Rally create.

Anyone take a screen shot of this? Actually curious to see how similar it was to the Rally site.
