my instinct is usually for the big nice photo...but in this case, I'd say go with the right...it wasn't immediately understandable to me what i was supposed to be looking at with the left version...or what the page was all about... the right version was more of an immediate 'oh...ok...that's what this is about'....

I agree. Right is an immediate get, whereas Left I wonder what it's about.

The logos help, especially if the disabled looking logos indicate future API integrations. If they don't it feels a bit like false advertising.

I like the right one which says it all. But the mail subscription is not spot on.

Whatever feels "on brand" and tells a better story.

Left: serious and elevated due to the use of big bg image and product on device.

Right: playful, less serious in tone, and does a better job at letting me know what to expect from this app.

I think the left will get your more email signups, but the right seems more inviting and allows me to explore a little more - subjectively it also looks better and I'd be more likely to trust the brand.

I think there is more that can be done to the right to increase signups while still offering that exploration though.

If we are just talking visually, then the I'd prefer to use the right one.

While the right one is generally better, I do prefer to see what the app looks like before I go off to download it (maybe my internet is slow, I can't be bothered to open up app store, insert whatever other common scenario here). Try to incorporate the actual app on the right side version and you should be good to go.

Left I focused more on the product, and right I focused more on the call to action/sell. I like right the best, but you could pull off the left if you look into more intuitive or contextual mockups for the iphone screen.

Left - Photo sets tone for either something about vacations, relaxing, or adventure. Then it takes a few moments to get that its an app that combines feeds.

Right - Focus eye on text, get the idea right away. Then I see all the different icons and get an idea of what can be used.
