China has gamified being an obedient citizen (youtube.com)

First thing I thought of when I read the title was 'Black Mirror'.
Here in the States we're already gathering all the necessary data—we're even denying people their travel rights already, so we're way ahead of China there. All we're missing is a pretty interface.
Wouldn't be surprised if the DHS/NSA has a similar system to covertly categorize people.
Do you mean something like an enormous database of people’s “associates, their locations at certain times, their traveling companions and other personal information”, or a system whereby citizens can be “designated as representatives of terror organizations without any evidence they are actually connected to such organizations”?
Or maybe an integration of the two?
Yeah. Combined with each person's social media activity and browsing info.
The Governments Secret, Nationwide License-Plate Tracking Database might be a section in this system as well.
Alternate title: "Facebook handing over more and more user data to governments, still decides not to at least encrypt private messages."
The real brilliance of the system is revealing the data to people and using it for social pressure.
This is terrifying.
The video is not true at all! The first very wrong thing is that Alibaba owns "Sesame Credit" system, it has nothing to do with Tencent, Tencent has its competing product called "Zhengxin Credit". Also I've heard no news about that the Sesame Credit would be mandatory in 2020.
The agreement of Sesame Credit is here, for English version try Google Translate.
Please do not try to propaganda malign things about China when you have totally no idea whether the things you convincingly argued are truth or not!
Won't know for sure but I saw a report on BBC when I was searching about it. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-34592186
Curious to hear your opinion on the system itself though, perhaps you can give an insight on your understanding.
I am also from China and this video is totally a misunderstanding. China has vast, free, open internet; Zero firewalls. Us here at the 50 cent party love free speech.
I am a designer living in China, this video is totally a misunderstanding.
