I have some Sketch files sent by some friends, and usually when I open the file, Sketch prompts me some fonts are missing and I have to buy / download and install / activate the fonts listed in the table. Is there any way to automate this process?
I use RightFont, it's truly the best font app on the Mac! Now the latest version had supported font auto activation for Sketch. When you installed RightFont, right click on the sketch document and choose open with RightFont, the missing fonts contained in your Sketch document (if there are) will be scanned and activated automatically. This saved me much time!!
Thank you Kite, I have bought 1 license, it's cool and works as expected. However, I have another question, can you tell me how many fonts do you have on your computer? Did you import ALL fonts into this app, and if so, won't it slow down the system?
I have around 18,000 fonts on my iMac, after imported to RightFont, it takes about 1s to start up, very impressive. Before switched to RightFont, I always use Font Book, it's free and made by Apple. However, I accidently installed more than 10k fonts once and the CPU usage got very very high, I have to uninstall these fonts immediately. Trust me, don't ever use Font Book to install a large amount of fonts!
Got it, thank you! ;)
I haven't tried this functionality but rightfont supposedly has sketch automatic font activation
I'd say spring for the Font Explorer app. It's terribly... bad. Side note: it's amazing that an app made for designers could be so poorly designed is unforgivable, could be that type people are so myopic in their corner of the practice. It's got everything you want to categorize, make project groups, and even has settings turn fonts inactive on program exit in order to save space. There is no real substitute for this app/program. Anyone who has spent any time manicuring their iTunes libraries will be familiar with the Font Explorer experience. It's not cheap. I get that. If you're a 3D designer then sure, go for the cheap sh!t, but if it's your job/hobby/fetish then you should spring for the most bang for your buck.
If the fonts are Google fonts, have a read of a post I wrote a few months back :)
