This looks good, but it took WAY too long to load. I thought the site was broken and was about to close the tab.
Shit, noted! If it were a quicker, do you think it would serve value?
Oh most definitely, I liked it.
My previous personal site was > 6 years old and desperately needed a facelift. Going into the reboot, I didn't want to do the whole self hosted blog thing again, and wondered if I could scrape content off Medium and display it on my own site. Turns out, it's very possible.
The goal of the redesign is to have a nice face on a simple site, and also see how the dual-content approach between Medium and here affects SEO.
Would love some feedback and thoughts, thanks!
Interesting concept. Do you just update the post list manually whenever you write a new Medium post? Love the design. Classic type with a modern layout. Makes me want to go snowboarding
Edit: Sounds like you're automating the Medium import
I like the loading screen, but I think the animation has to be faster. I noticed I started clicking to see if it would just jump me to the site.
Edit: One more note, when I clicked "Continue Reading", I half expected that it would bring me to another page. Maybe try "Read on Medium" instead?
Great point, thanks!
Looks damn good. The loading screen didn't really fit and was hard to read for me. Does this site really need a loader?
Well thanks!
No it doesn't need a loader :) It's more so there as a superfluous token of appreciation the first time someone comes to the site. I'm torn on it as well. It's definitely not necessary, but maybe an interesting way to introduce the site if it's not disruptive.
